A visit to the Kala Ghoda Cafe….
After quite a while, JustInReviews is finally back with restaurant reviews. This time around, we will be visiting the Kala Ghoda Cafe in Mumbai! So, ready to go? Be with us as we take you through.
This place is situated in the by-lanes of the Kala Ghoda area in Mumbai and it’s not difficult to come across it, on the off chance that you don’t know where to search for! Kala Ghoda Cafe can be called an old-fashioned cosy bistro housed in what was previously a barn.
On the inside:
It has got a kind of what can be called a rustic modern industrial design. Those who have visited this place say that getting a table is troublesome as there is limited seating arrangement. There happen to be 5 tables, in addition to the one on the mezzanine and 2 towards the rear side, which is sort of waiting area with no air conditioning. One would find a peculiar pink-handled bicycle stationed on the mezzanine and on the off chance that you cycle over to the bistro on Sundays, coffee or tea is on the house! The bistro likewise provides free Wi-Fi other than between 12:30 and 15:30. One can get a bird’s eye view of the eatery and outside from the mezzanine table.
The platter is limited, but then one can understand that it is a cafe and not a restaurant.
One can get the breakfast dishes throughout the day; combo offers not included.
One can get a variety of soups, sandwiches, salad plates, snacks and last but not the least desserts.
In addition, also your organic coffee and tea varieties. The bistro is known to blend its own coffee beans and many just love to sit inside and experience the mild aroma of the freshly ground coffee beans.
The pumpkin apple soup is loved by many. One can enjoy the slight flavour of apple. One can go for the Parsi Pora which happens to be a Parsi styled spicy omlette. You can have it with toasts. Amongst others, the Sweet Potato and Pumpkin Salad with Sesame Soya Dressing is also popular.
Desert food items include dishes such as Carrot Cake with Orange Rind Cream- A thick piece of warm cake accompanied by a dollop of citrusy cream = sounds paradise! Ginger Cake with Cream is another option before the food lovers.
Cappuccino and Green tea are some of the regulars in beverages at the Kala Ghoda cafe.
