Manto Movie Review: Nawaz Turns Into A Writer This Time!

Manto Movie Review: Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the famous writer this time around.

It’s time for the film review of the week, and JustInReviews presents you with the Manto movie review, in the form of Bollywood latest update.

Manto passed in Lahore, Pakistan, in 1955, 7 years post the Indian independence. For a long time (35 years), he stayed in what he termed as the love of his life, Bambai (now Mumbai), and lived the rest of it needing it. His was an existence of admiration, rejection and stinging tongue, in addition an unstoppable want to set up himself as the most realistic prose writer of those times.

In Manto movie starring Nawazuddin, there happen to be some striking minutes in the film, however, they can be said to remain just minutes: an evening party with Ashok Kumar and rest of the famous stars of the 40s era, looks especially dazzling. Dugal, being Manto’s mainstay sparkles, and Bhasin’s Shyam can be called alive and vivid.

In the film, director Nandita Das has attempted to follow Manto’s motivations in life — accounts of sexual desires, brothels, melancholic set-ups etc. Manto wasn’t upbeat about writing for films, yet did so, for the sake of money. With the help of his work, he always meant to discover imperfect characters searching for salvation.

The Indo-Pak partition fills in as the film’s backdrop. The unstable society during those times hoping to ease out the outrage found a face in Saadat Haasan Manto. He resembled the stopper of a soda bottle thrust shut subsequent to pouring some salt in it.

As far as the Manto movie cast and their performances go, it can be said that Nawazuddin Siddiqui has stolen the show. Nawazuddin Siddiqui appears to have stripped himself of all the apprehensions and has literally jumped into the Manto’s world with lots of energy, identity and wit. A long way from Wasseypur, he appears to have changed into a writer who has lost it all in the No Man’s Land within India and Pakistan.

All in all, it can be said to be a movie that would make you think, probably hurt you, and help you to get back to your ideals.
