What Is GMAT?
Want to take admission to a Business School? You have to appear for the GMAT exam. The Graduate Management Admission Test is better known as GMAT. How will the applicants perform academically in their MBA (Masters in Business Administration) programs? This very exam is an indicator of the same. This happens to be a multiple-choice, computer-based standardised exam that is mandatory for seeking admission to a graduate management program such as MBA – Masters in HR, Masters in Marketing, Masters in Finance, Masters in IT, Masters in Operation, Masters in Import-export and associated courses. Colleges/institutes offering management degrees consider GMAT scores as one of the criteria for admissions.
The GMAT exam measures a student’s knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra, geometry, multi-source data analysis, and grammar. It also measures your ability in reasoning skills involving complex judgments and critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving.
Who designs the GMAT exam?
The Graduate Management Admission Council also known as GMAC is a global, mission-driven association of leading graduate business schools. GMAC designs the GMAT entrance exam, first and only standardised test specifically designed for graduate business and management programs. The GMAT entrance exam has 500 to 600 test centres in different countries. This exam is a popular and widely accepted one for the graduate management admissions.
GMAT 2020 Exam Criteria
Prior to filling the application form, it is recommended that candidates go through the GMAT 2020 eligibility criteria,
Age Limit: The minimum age limit is 18 years, and there is no maximum age limit to apply.
Qualification: A bachelor’s degree recognised by any university.
Number of Attempts: Candidates can appear for more than 5 times in one year.
Re-Appear: 16 days is the duration one needs to wait for, in order to re-appear for the exam.
If candidates have achieved a score of 800, they must wait for 5 years to take the exam again.
GMAT 2020 Exam Pattern
GMAT 2020 has got 4 sections divided into Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning and Analytical Reasoning. The total time duration of the exam will be 3.5 hours including 2 optional breaks

• Prepare a time table for studying
• Go through the current exam pattern and syllabus of the GMAT exam in detail
• Attempt questions from the current topic, before moving on to the next one.
• Refer to the previous year’s questions
• Attempt the mock tests and question papers.
• Always be confident about your preparation.
GMAT 2020 Fee Structure
The GMAT application fee is $250, i.e. around INR 17,000. In addition, if one wishes to reschedule the exam or change the center, an additional $50 would be charged.
• In the event you cancel the exam more than 7 days prior to the exam date, a refund of US $80 will be made
• In the event cancellation is done inside 7 days of the test date, one is not eligible for any refund
Also, one cannot cancel the exam appointment inside 24 hours of the scheduled date and time
• US $60 to be paid, in case you reschedule the exam more than 7 days prior to the test date
• If one reschedules it within 7 days, a fee of US $ 250 needs to be paid
