A comparative review of Xiaomi Mi A2 and the Xiaomi Mi A1.
Many of you must have used the Xiaomi Mi A1 phone. Now, Xiaomi has come up with the next one in the series i.e. Xiaomi Mi A2. So, a comparison is bound to happen. What’s new in this one? The Mi A2 flaunts a larger display than the Mi A1. The Mi A2 accompanies a 5.99-inch full-HD+ screen having a 2160x1080p resolution, pixel density of 403ppi, and an aspect ratio worth 18:9. The Mi A1, then again, accompanies a 5.5-inch full-HD and a 1080x1920p resolution screen. The aspect ratio happens to be 16:9.
With regards to the design, the most obvious contrast can be said to be the display panels; details of which are mentioned above. Towards the rear, both these gadgets host dual cameras. The Mi A1 has got a horizontal arrangement while the ones on the Mi A2 are set vertically.
The Mi A2 is available in three storage variants. The base model accompanies 32GB of internal memory, the middle variant carries 64GB of memory, and finally, the top model incorporates a 128GB of internal memory. In contrast, the storage configuration for the Mi A1 is limited. The Mi A1 can be purchased just in one variant with 64GB capacity, which can be increased by up to 128GB via a hybrid micro-SD card slot.
In terms of the camera specifications, the Mi A1 highlights dual 12-MP sensors towards the back – one having a wide-angle f/2.2 lens and the second with a f/2.6 aperture and 1-micron pixel size. At the front side, the smartphone comes with a 5-MP camera having a real-time beautification mode.
The Mi A2 comes with a dual camera framework at the back. It comprises of a 12-MP Sony IMX486 with 1.25-micron pixels and an f/1.75 aperture, plus a 20-MP secondary Sony IMX376 sensor having a Super Pixel size of 2-micron 4-in-1. The back camera setup accompanies dual tone LED flash and PDAF. Towards the front, the handset has got a Sony IMX376 selfie camera worth 20-MP supported by an f/1.75 aperture, fixed focal length, along with a soft-LED flash.
The driving force:
One may say that the Mi A2 has got technology updates, as it is more powerful compared to its predecessor. The Mi A2 carries a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor supported by an Adreno 512 GPU. The Mi A1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, which at present, is there in the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite, the second handset that was launched with the Mi A2.
The Mi A1 had a 4GB RAM variant. Strikingly, Xiaomi has come up with 2 RAM models for the Mi A2, the basic models accompany 4GB RAM, while a 6GB RAM is present in the top variant.
This comes as a surprise. A smaller battery is present in the Mi A2 in contrast to the Mi A1 ! The Xiaomi Mi A2 is powered by a 3,010mAh battery supported by a QuickCharge 3.0. In comparison, the Mi A1 accompanies a 3,080mAh battery, however, has no support for quick charging.
The only similarity that both these gadgets bring to the table is the software. Both of them function on a stock version of Android 8.1 Oreo which is certified by Google’s Android One program.
The cost of Xiaomi Mi A1 in India is considerably lower than the worldwide cost of the Mi A2. Just a single variant of the phone, with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, is out there for sale in India, at a cost of Rs. 13,999.
Xiaomi India has affirmed that the Mi A2 will be launched in India on the 8th of August, and it is expected that the price range will begin from Rs 19,999.
