Qualcomm Snapdragon 632, 439 and 429 SoC: A Tech Review

This time, we are going to review the latest from Qualcomm i.e. the Snapdragon 632, 439 and 429 SoC processors.

Qualcomm recently launched the above mentioned three new Snapdragon processors keeping in mind tablets and smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2018) in Shanghai.

  • What to expect?

These new processors are basically said to be mid-level alternatives inside each series, and they are expected to provide better performance over a portion of the entry-level alternatives in the market.

In any case, these latest technology processors are reportedly launched to make dual cameras and some of the other features to appear more frequently more in the mid-range segment to enable them to maintain pace with the whistles and bells of premium smartphones.

  • Snapdragon 439 and Snapdragon 429 SoCs:

To begin with, the Snapdragon 439 and Snapdragon 429 SoCs are said to bring to the table, Artificial Intelligence technology that is expected to voice, camera and the overall security experience. They are known to have been developed on a 12nm advanced FinFET process technology, and the processors enhance CPU performance and power efficiency by 25%, this is what the manufacturers claim.

Both these feature the X6 LTE modem, providing peak download speeds of 150Mbps.

The Snapdragon 439 SoC comes with an octa-core CPU and incorporates the Adreno 505 GPU for 20 % quicker graphics rendering. In the interim, the Snapdragon 429 opts for Adreno 504 GPU, for a 50 percent enhancement in graphics rendering, Qualcomm states.

With respect to the optics, the Snapdragon 439 processor is known to support a 21-MP camera or dual cameras of 8-MP each, while the Snapdragon 429 SoC incorporates support for gadgets with 8-megapixel double cameras and 16-megapixel single-camera. Also, the Snapdragon 439 SoC happens to be compatible for full-HD+ screen, while the 429 processor has support for HD+ display only.

  • Snapdragon 632 Soc:

It is based on a 14nm advanced FinFET process technology, while the Snapdragon 632 SoC promises up to 40% higher performance on account of the blend of the Qualcomm Kryo 250 CPU and Qualcomm Adreno 506 GPU.

According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 632 SoC facilitates mainstream gaming, AI, 4K video capture, and quicker LTE speeds at a reasonable price.

As far as the optics go, there are alternatives to pick either a 24-megapixel camera or dual cameras at 13-megapixel each. Qualcomm states that screen resolutions can reach up to full-HD+. In terms of mobile speeds, the X9 LTE modem that comes with the Snapdragon 632 handles advanced LTE technologies such as Carrier Aggregation, and top download speeds of up to 300Mbps becomes a possibility. The modem happens to be rated Cat. 13 LTE in case of uplink, and Cat. 7 LTE in case of downlink.
